YNW Melly is currently facing the death penalty if convicted of the two counts of first-degree murder he is being charged with.

According to court documents, the State of Florida is pursuing the death penalty against Melly because they believe beyond a reasonable doubt that Melly murdered his friends for “financial gain.” They allege that the “the murder was especially heinous, atrocious or cruel, and he committed homicide in a cold, calculated and premeditated manner.” They also allege that the rapper is gang affiliated, which they believe helps their case.
