Mary J. Blige “Rent Money” Inspired By Her Divorce
In a recent interview, Mary J. Blige spoke on not getting paid to perform at the Super Bowl and the inspiration behind her single, “Rent Money.”
During an interview with Angie Martinez, Mary J. Blige talked about her new song “Rent Money” which features Dave East. She said the song was inspired by her 2016 divorce which was financially taxing. After her divorce, Mary had to go on tour to make ends meet. She also confirmed that Super Bowl Halftime performers are not paid for their performance but expressed the opportunity it adds in creating revenue. Streams for “Family Affair” have placed her in the Top 10 of the iTunes chart. She also has a new album out now, not to mention, Dr. Dre let it slip that he is currently working on new music with Mary right now.
