Jennifer Hudson Achieves EGOT Status With Tony Award
Jennifer Hudson has become one of 17 special people called an “EGOT” after winning a Tony Award for best musical as co-producer of “A Strange Loop.” An EGOT is an individual who has received Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony awards. She is the second black woman to accomplish this feat, behind Whoopi Goldberg. She is the third black EGOT joining Whoopi Goldberg and John Legend. Jennifer Hudson received an Emmy as an executive producer of Baba Yaga in 2021. Her two Grammy Awards came from her self-titled debut album which was named Best R&B Album in 2009 and a Grammy for the cast album of “The Color Purple.” Hudson received her Oscar in 2007 for best-supporting actress in Dreamgirls.
