Renowned singer and actress Janelle Monáe found herself the center of widespread discussion last month, as her open endorsement of public nudity led to extensive conversation and social media posts. In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, Monáe stated, “I find myself much more at ease when I can be open and free,” candidly expressing her comfort with public nudity. This bold admission was accompanied by her appearance on the magazine’s cover, reminiscent of Janet Jackson’s iconic 1993 cover image. Monáe is currently generating buzz for her upcoming album, “The Age of Pleasure,” scheduled for release on June 9 through Wondaland/Bad Boy/Atlantic. The multi-talented 37-year-old artist will embark on a North American tour in support of this new release. Her “Age of Pleasure Tour” is set to launch on August 30 at the WAMU Theater in Seattle, Washington. Monáe’s tour will take her to cities across the continent including Atlanta, Chicago, Toronto, New York City, and Inglewood. “The Age of Pleasure” adds to Monáe’s impressive catalogue that already includes 2010’s “The ArchAndroid,” 2013’s “The Electric Lady,” and the Grammy-nominated “Dirty Computer” from 2018. Besides her remarkable music career, Monáe has also carved out a successful path in acting. She has received accolades for her roles in films such as “Moonlight,” “Hidden Figures,” and “Harriet,” as well as her performance in the 2022 Netflix movie, “Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery.” Monáe marked her return to the music scene with the 2023 singles “Float” and “Lipstick Lover” from her forthcoming album, “The Age of Pleasure.” The R&B/Hip Hop/Pop artist, originally from Kansas City, previously topped the Billboard Hot 100 charts and earned an RIAA Diamond Award for her contribution to “We Are Young” by the band Fun.
