Bobby Brown Misses New Edition’s Texas Shows on “The Legacy Tour” Due to Exhaustion
New Edition began “The Legacy Tour” on March 9th, but member Bobby Brown was forced to miss two recent shows in Texas.
Brown’s attorney, Christopher Brown, stated that the R&B star couldn’t perform with his bandmates in Houston and Dallas due to exhaustion.
In a statement, Bobby Brown apologized to his Texas fans, saying, “I love you, and I’m sorry I missed you this weekend. San Diego—Be ready!! You will get the best of me and my New Edition brothers.” The group is set to perform at the Pechanga Arena in San Diego, California on April 6th, with future tour stops including Las Vegas, Inglewood, Oakland, Baltimore, Tampa, and other cities.
New Edition was formed in the 1970s by Bobby Brown, Ricky Bell, Michael Bivins, Ronnie DeVoe, and Ralph Tresvant. Johnny Gill, the “Perfect Combination” singer, replaced Brown in 1987. The group released their debut studio album, Candy Girl, in 1983, followed by other LPs such as New Edition, Heart Break, and Home Again. Songs like “Cool It Now,” “If It Isn’t Love,” and “Can You Stand the Rain” are considered R&B classics.
Bobby Brown launched his successful solo career with the 1988 album Don’t Be Cruel, which spent six weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart and earned a 7x-Platinum certification. His single “My Prerogative” also peaked at No. 1 on the Hot 100 songs chart.
Brown has appeared on various television programs, including the 2005 reality series Being Bobby Brown. A&E aired Biography: Bobby Brown and Bobby Brown: Every Little Step in 2022. In 2017, BET presented the three-part miniseries The New Edition Story, in which actor Woody McClain portrayed Bobby Brown. McClain reprised the role in BET’s The Bobby Brown Story.
