Beyonce Removes Kelis Sample After Pharrell Controversy
Beyonce removed the sample of Kelis’ hit record “Milkshake” from her single, “Energy.” The decision to remove the sample came after Kelis vocalized her frustration with Beyonce and Pharrell Williams, who produced the track. Pharrell Williams produced much of Kelis’ music including, “Milkshake.” Kelis accused Pharrell of using the sample to spite her. Beyonce faced a few obstacles with the release of her album. The album leaked two days before its scheduled release date. Also, she decided to remove the word “spaz” from a song after some people took offense to the term.
