In a heartfelt tribute on her website, Beyoncé wrote, “To my cherished queen, I adore you immeasurably. Your inspiration and the trail you blazed are invaluable. You personify strength and resilience, and you are the ultimate symbol of power and fervor. We have been privileged to witness your kindness and enchanting spirit, which will live on eternally. My heartfelt thanks for everything you have accomplished.” In 2005, Beyoncé performed a tribute to Tina Turner at the Kennedy Center Honors by delivering a rendition of “Proud Mary.” This performance was later echoed at the 50th annual Grammy Awards in 2008 when Beyoncé joined Turner for a memorable duet of the same song.
