Beyoncé recently expressed her admiration and respect for the late Tina Turner, who passed away at the age of 83.
In a statement shared by her representative, the legendary Queen of Rock & Roll succumbed to a prolonged illness at her residence in Switzerland on Wednesday, May 24.
In a heartfelt tribute on her website, Beyoncé wrote, “To my cherished queen, I adore you immeasurably. Your inspiration and the trail you blazed are invaluable. You personify strength and resilience, and you are the ultimate symbol of power and fervor. We have been privileged to witness your kindness and enchanting spirit, which will live on eternally. My heartfelt thanks for everything you have accomplished.”
In 2005, Beyoncé performed a tribute to Tina Turner at the Kennedy Center Honors by delivering a rendition of “Proud Mary.” This performance was later echoed at the 50th annual Grammy Awards in 2008 when Beyoncé joined Turner for a memorable duet of the same song.
