Pixar’s “Lightyear” Disappoints At Box Office
Pixar’s “Lightyear” failed to perform at the box office as expected with a reported $51 million. It is the best opening for an animated film since the beginning of the pandemic but was unable to clear industry expectations. The Toy Story spinoff was unable to top Jurassic World: Dominion, which made $58.6 million. Disney and Pixar had high hopes for the film due to the success of the previous Toy Story films. Previous to Lightyear, all of the Toy Story movies had been able to top the last and the last two cleared a billion dollars worldwide.
