Mo’Nique Settles Discrimination Lawsuit With Netflix
Mo’Nique and Netflix have ended their longstanding dispute over racial and sexual discrimination. Mo’Nique accused the streaming service of low-balling her for a potential stand-up special. Details of the settlement could not be confirmed. The lawsuit was sparked when Mo’Nique claimed Netflix only offered her $500,000 and wanted her to give up complete creative control. Netflix compensated Dave Chapelle, Chris Rock, Ricky Gervais, and Amy Schumer well over $10 million. At the time of the lawsuit, a Netflix representative said, “We care deeply about inclusion, equity, and diversity and take any accusations of discrimination very seriously. We believe our opening offer to Mo’Nique was fair – which is why we will be fighting this lawsuit.”
