Nicki Minaj opened up to the world on her latest album Queen, but now she’s taking it up another notch with a new documentary film. In the film, also called Queen, Nicki speaks candidly about abuse, family life, love and music.
On Tuesday, the Queens rapper posted two snippets of the documentary on Instagram. In both clips, she is sitting down in a dimly lit room discussing what she had to overcome to get where she is today. In one clip, she speaks on the abuse she witnessed in the home. “My mother would let my father be violent with her,” she explained. “As a little girl, I would stand in front of my mother and go like this,”. (She displayed a blocking motion).
Nicki also talks about some of the abuse she suffered in her own situation. Who was I gonna inspire when I had nothing in me to give?” she added nearly in tears. “Like, I let one human being make me feel so low that I didn’t even remember who I was. I was scared to get in the studio. I didn’t believe in myself.” she revealed.
Though there is no set release date for the film, Ms. Minaj did note that it is coming soon. Check out the snippets below.
