Netflix Netflix is working to prevent subscribers from sharing their account passwords with people outside of the household. Netflix will charge an additional $2.99 for primary account users to add a sub-member outside the home. They have started testing out the fee in Chile, Costa Rica, and Peru. Limiting the test to these countries enables Netflix to observe the effectiveness of the fee. The director of product innovation at Netflix, Chengyi Long, explained they want to make it easy for people to share their accounts. At the same time, sharing outside the household impacts their “ability to invest in great new TV and films for our members.” As of now, there are no plans to administer the changes permanently.
