Meek Mill held a press conference at the Philadelphia Municipal Services Building on Tuesday (April 2) to propose a new bill that will change the state of Pennsylvania’s probation system.

“I always speak for the people without a voice,” Meek told the crowd. “I hate that it had to be me to go to jail for it to become an issue. But it is an issue and this is where we are at. So I decided to use my time, my platform, my energy to speak for people who don’t have a voice.”

The bill is designed to prevent courts from handing out consecutive probation sentences and from extending a person’s time on probation or parole over the “nonpayment of fines and fees.” The site says it will also establish incentives that “reward good behavior.”
