Jay-Z & Beyonce

Music and business mogul Jay-Z, and music icon Beyonce, are no strangers to charity and philanthropic endeavors. Their newest effort to give back to the community is nothing short of amazing. Jay-Z and Beyonce will donate $100,000 to one student in each city of their On The Run II Tour, to help fund their collge education.

The new effort is a collaboration between Beyonce’s BeyGOOD Initiative and Jay-Z’s Shawn Carter Foundation. Bey and Jay are pairing up with local Boys & Girls Clubs around the country to choose winners. 11 lucky students from across the U.S. are going to be selected. Students from cities including Miami, Houston, Phoenix, Los Angeles, San Diego, New Orleans, Arlington, Phoenix, Santa Clara, Orlando, and seattle are all eligble to win one of the $100,000 scholarships.

According to a press release, the scholarship contest has 2 requirements. Students must demonstrate academic excellence, and students must demonstrate financial need. If the students can meet these qualifications, they have a chance of winning.

The OTR II Tour is not the first time Jay-Z and Beyonce have helped fund education. Last year, Beyonce created the Formation Scholars Award. This award helped female students nationwide further their college education. Also Jay-Z’s Shawn Carter Foundation has been hosting college tours for HBCU’s, as well as donating scholarships over the years.
