R&B  singer Jacquees is known for frequently remixing popular music and putting his own spin on it. His most recent remix to Ella Mai’s hit song “Trip”, was met with tremendous reception, so much so, that he recieved a cease & desist from Ella Mai’s label.

The “Trip (Quemix)”, which was uploaded to Youtube & Soundcloud, received upwards of 2 million streams on its first day posted. Once the remix started to perform extremely well, the R&B singer was forced to remove it from all platforms. Jacquees was also accused of trying to monetize a song that did not belong to him in the process. He took to twitter to refute these claims when fellow singer T-Pain accused him of monetizing the song. “Nigga no I didn’t lol hell you talm bout my brother I put it on SoundCloud and YouTube you know my game ain’t cap I love Ella,” tweeted Jacquees.

10 Summers Label owner, DJ Mustard also took to Twitter to clear up any confusion about the cease and desist. He defended Ella Mai and disputed rumors that she was the one who got the song removed. “Our artists don’t send cease and desists, we do,” he said. “When you monetize content you don’t own you are stealing and no one steals from 10 Summers. Ella had no say in the matter and any platform reporting differently is spreading falsities. This is simply a press or marketing plan, or some other strategy to deviate from the narrative the Ella is breaking records left and right because the music she’s making us cutting through straight to fans a ta rate people haven’t seen in years. Ella’s career started by doing covers and we support all her fans and fellow artists doing the same.” concluded Mustard.
