Fivio Foreign YK Osiris, the singer, found himself at the center of social media criticism after a video of him forcibly kissing reality show star Sukihana without her consent went viral. The incident sparked widespread discussion, with various individuals, including New York City rapper Fivio Foreign, sharing their thoughts on the matter. In response to the significant online backlash, YK Osiris issued an apology to Sukihana for what many deemed as a clear case of sexual assault. Sukihana accepted the apology from the “Worth It” recording artist, indicating her willingness to move forward. Hollywood Unlocked had a conversation with Fivio Foreign at the premiere of the For Khadija documentary during the 2023 Tribeca Film Festival in New York. The outlet, led by Jason Lee, inquired about Fivio Foreign’s stance on the YK Osiris/Sukihana controversy. “As a Black man in America and considering how our Black women are portrayed, you always have to be sensitive,” expressed Fivio Foreign. “You need to have empathy. Now, I don’t want to tear down another Black man, but I empathize with her, and I have daughters. So, you just have to be aware of the situation.” Meek Mill, the Philadelphia-raised rapper, faced criticism for his own response to the negative reactions surrounding the YK Osiris incident. Eventually, Meek concluded his comments by advising Osiris to return to church and distance himself from negative influences. Regarding the For Khadija film, Fivio Foreign attended the Tribeca Festival to support fellow NYC rap star French Montana. Speaking to Hollywood Unlocked, he expressed his satisfaction in backing another New Yorker and someone he admired since his childhood. Fivio Foreign emphasized his fan support for French Montana. The controversy surrounding YK Osiris’s forced kiss incident has sparked important conversations about consent and the portrayal of Black women. Fivio Foreign’s empathetic perspective and Meek Mill’s comments highlight the need for sensitivity and understanding in such situations. As the discussion continues, it remains crucial to foster a culture that respects boundaries and protects the rights of all individuals.
