Will Smith Wins His First Golden Globe Award

Will Smith was awarded his first Golden Globe Award for his role in the movie, King Richard. His win came over heavy competition from actors including Mahershala Ali & Denzel Washington. Smith had been nominated five times previously dating back to 1993 for the “Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” show. In the movie, King Richard, he plays the title role as the father of Venus & Serena Williams.
