TDE Punch Top Dawg Entertainment president, Terrence “Punch” Henderson, responded to SZA’s claim that he’s the one holding back the release of her new album. He appeared on Math Hoffa’s “My Expert Opinion” podcast where he set the record straight about the contention between him and SZA. “I respect fans that demand because it was obvious something was said that touched their lives to where they want it this bad,” Punch said. When asked for a more straightforward answer, Punch replied, “I remember one of the main things that kicked this off. I was dropping the ‘Hit Different’ record and Ty Dolla Sign was on the hook, but Ty had just dropped his single. So they called and asked could we wait for a week just to give him some run on what he was doing before we put ours out. So I’m like, ‘Yeah we can do that,’ and I held the song back for a week and it was taken as I’m holding the album back. So we go from there and it snowballs to where the fans see it and they only see the small print.” Punch said he had that conversation with SZA but she misinterpreted what he meant. He went on to say the album is completed and will be coming soon.
