Soulja Boy Returns to Twitch After Over a Year-Long Ban
On Thursday, April 20, Twitch reinstated Soulja Boy’s access to the popular streaming platform after a ban lasting more than a year.
The 32-year-old rapper took to Twitter to celebrate his return, posting, “I’m back,” accompanied by several emojis.
Soulja Boy was initially suspended and subsequently banned from Twitch in December 2021. He threatened to take legal action against the Amazon-owned service if his ban was not lifted, stating in a now-deleted tweet, “If y’all don’t give me my account back, I’m taking y’all to court @Twitch @TwitchSupport.”
The rapper accused Twitch of racism and urged other users to boycott the platform, writing in another deleted tweet, “I need the best lawyer money can buy dm me I got millions. I wanna sue Twitch. I feel like they racist they ban me without no explanation. I will not stand for this.”
However, Soulja Boy later apologized for his accusations against Twitch, saying, “Just spoke with Twitch. I would like to send an apology to the entire staff and community. It’s their decision; let’s just see what happens. Thanks for your support.”
Twitch has not revealed the reason behind lifting the ban.
