Snoop Dogg Hip-hop icon Snoop Dogg has revealed his interest in becoming a part-owner of the Ottawa Senators NHL team. On Monday, May 1, the rapper confirmed on Instagram that he has joined an ownership group led by Los Angeles-based entrepreneur Neko Sparks, who aims to acquire the hockey franchise. Snoop Dogg expressed his excitement for the project, writing, “Amazing what @neko_sparks is trying to do in Ottawa & I’m looking forward to being a part of that ownership team. I WANNA BRING HOCKEY TO OUR COMMUNITY.” The confirmation came after The Athletic reported Snoop Dogg’s involvement in Sparks’ ownership group, with the rapper being one of over a dozen investors joining forces to buy the Senators. A source told The Athletic, “He’s passionately involved. He’s coming up with ideas. And he’s legitimately excited. He wants this team.” The Ottawa Senators are expected to sell for over $1 billion. If Sparks’ group successfully acquires the team, he would become the NHL’s first Black owner. Snoop Dogg has ventured into various industries in the past, most notably purchasing Death Row Records in 2021. He expanded the Death Row brand with ventures in cannabis, wine, and more after acquiring his former label. The Doggfather briefly removed the Death Row catalog from streaming services in 2022, but the music returned to digital platforms in 2023.
