Jay-Z The United Justice Coalition will host a social justice summit this summer. The UJC is part of Jay-Z’s Team Roc. The event will take place in New York City on Saturday, July 23. Its purpose is to raise awareness about racial justice and policy issues. Diana Diaz, Roc Nation’s managing director of philanthropy, describes the event as “an opportunity for people to really learn about issues that impact their communities – issues that are going to inevitably come up in midterm elections – and hopefully, it’ll drive action.” Ben Crump, Van Jones, Tamika Mallory, Michael Eric Dyson, and Charlmagne Tha God will all attend and lead discussions at the summit. Jay-Z and Roc Nation have also created a partnership with the NFL to commit the league to spend $100 million over the next ten years toward social justice outreach.
