Questlove Wins Oscar For “Summer of Soul”
Questlove won the Oscar Award for Best Documentary for “Summer of Soul (…Or, When the Revolution Could Not Be Televised).” “Summer of Soul” is a documentary highlighting the 1969 Harlem Cultural Festival. The film contains footage from Nina Simone, Stevie Wonder, B.B King, and other legendary musicians of that era. Questlove was “overwhelmed” as he accepted the award for his directorial debut. Summer of Soul premiered at the 2021 Sundance Film Festival and has won numerous awards.
