Queen Latifah Launches Affordable Housing In New Jersey
Queen Latifah is building affordable housing in Newark, New Jersey. She linked with the Mayor of Newark, Ras Baraka, to celebrate the new 76-unit housing development. The development will also transform some local properties into modern housing and mixed-use spaces. Rent will start at $1800 a month. Queen Latifah felt it was necessary after seeing all the empty or run-down properties in her hometown. The development is called “Rise Living,” named in honor of her late mother. The acronym stands for “Rita Is Still Everywhere.”
