Post Malone Receives 2023 Hal David Starlight Award from Songwriters Hall of Fame
The Songwriters Hall of Fame (SHOF) has revealed that Post Malone will be honored with the prestigious Hal David Starlight Award in 2023.
Established in 2004, the award recognizes young songwriters who have made a significant impact on the music industry and is named after the late SHOF Chairman Emeritus, Hal David.
Post Malone joins an impressive roster of past recipients, including Lil Nas X, Halsey, Sara Bareilles, Ed Sheeran, Nick Jonas, Taylor Swift, John Legend, Alicia Keys, Ne-Yo, Drake, Benny Blanco, John Mayer, and Rob Thomas, among others.
SHOF Chairman Nile Rodgers expressed his admiration for Post Malone’s achievements, noting that he had witnessed the artist’s rise to global stardom. Rodgers praised Malone’s songwriting prowess, which paved the way for his entry into the Songwriters Hall of Fame.
Post Malone’s recent accolades include becoming the first-ever artist to achieve eight Diamond Single Awards from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). His songs “Sunflower,” “Congratulations,” “White Iverson,” “Psycho,” “Rockstar,” “Circles,” “Better Now,” and “I Fall Apart” have all surpassed 10 million RIAA units. Additionally, Malone has four No. 1 entries on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and a string of multi-platinum albums to his name.
The 52nd Annual Songwriters Hall of Fame Induction and Awards Dinner is scheduled for Thursday, June 15, at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in New York City. The event will also honor the previously announced 2023 inductees, including Calvin “Snoop Dogg” Broadus Jr., Glen Ballard, Gloria Estefan, Jeff Lynne, Teddy Riley, and Liz Rose.
