Megan Thee Stallion Pauses Music Career to Focus on Healing
Rapper Megan Thee Stallion has recently disclosed her decision to temporarily halt her musical pursuits.
In an interview with InStyle, she explained her current emphasis is on her personal recovery following her involvement in the Tory Lanez shooting trial.
She addressed her fans in the interview, stating, “New music can be anticipated when I’m in a better place. My current focus is on healing.”
The rapper has endured a considerable amount of public criticism over the years due to the Tory Lanez shooting case. She faced onslaughts from gossip channels, social media users, and even her fellow rappers after accusing Tory Lanez of shooting her in 2020.
However, in December of the previous year, a California jury convicted Tory Lanez, effectively vindicating Megan Thee Stallion. Lanez was found guilty on several charges, including assault with a semiautomatic firearm, discharging a firearm with gross negligence, and possessing a loaded, unregistered firearm in a vehicle.
Judge David Herriford dismissed Tory Lanez’s petition for a retrial in May. The Canadian artist is currently awaiting his sentencing hearing, scheduled for June 13.
Tory Lanez could potentially face up to 22 years and eight months in prison. Earlier in the month, prosecutors called for a stringent sentence, arguing that Lanez had shown a significant degree of indifference during the shooting incident.
