Philadelphia’s very own rap sensation, Lil Uzi Vert, made headlines earlier this year as his single “Just Wanna Rock” found its way into the Top 10. The purple-haired rapper is now creating a buzz around his impending full-length album. During his recent appearance at The Roots Picnic festival in his home city, Lil Uzi Vert intrigued fans about the release of his much-anticipated album, ‘The Pink Tape.’ When queried about the album’s launch by a festival attendee, Uzi responded in a brief social media video on June 4th, saying, “End of the month.” The 27-year-old rap artist, signed to Generation Now/Atlantic Records, has been hinting about ‘The Pink Tape’ for several years. The album is set to be a new addition to his already impressive discography, which features chart-topping albums like 2017’s ‘Luv Is Rage 2’ and 2020’s ‘Eternal Atake,’ along with ‘Pluto x Baby Pluto,’ a collaboration with Future in 2020 that reached No. 2 on the charts. In a conversation with TMZ earlier this year, Lil Uzi Vert opened up about his sober journey during the creation of ‘The Pink Tape.’ In contrast to his previous practice of making music under the influence, recording this album sober was a new experience for him. “It was challenging at first. But then probably after a month, I got used to it,” the rapper revealed. Uzi found that his creativity remained intact and even enhanced in sobriety, saying, “I thought that my creative process wasn’t going to be the same… It was the same. Even better.” The rapper further added that his thought process was clearer, leading to better articulation of his lyrics and a more focused approach to his music. “I didn’t just make random music, I didn’t just play off the beat. I actually made songs with topics this time,” Uzi explained. His single “Just Wanna Rock,” which climbed to No. 10 on the Billboard Hot 100, served as the unofficial anthem for the Philadelphia Eagles during their journey to Super Bowl LVII. This track marked Lil Uzi Vert’s seventh Top 10 entry.
