New York City’s iconic rapper, Lil Kim, experienced a poignant backstage meeting with superstar Janet Jackson after opening for her on the ‘Together Again’ tour.
Stepping in for Ludacris at the PPL Center on May 18 in Allentown, Pennsylvania, Lil Kim honored the legacy of Michael Jackson during her performance. She wowed the audience with a rendition of the King of Pop’s renowned choreography for his 1988 hit, “Smooth Criminal.”
However, Lil Kim was unable to contain her admiration for Janet Jackson once off stage. Becoming an enthusiastic fan, she rushed towards the singer for an emotional embrace.
As she attempted to hold back tears, Lil Kim exclaimed, “This is the queen, guys! Y’all better know it. This is my everything.”
She showered Janet Jackson with praise, labeling her a “masterpiece,” and expressing how much she has always admired both her and her brother, Michael Jackson.
“Janet, it was as if a female Michael had arrived. I was in love from the moment I saw her. We have similar looks, the same energy. She just gets it – a superstar with an innate talent and undeniable beauty,” Lil Kim passionately shared.
The rapper then expressed her desire to be “the rap Janet Jackson,” inspired by her unique energy and impact on the music scene.
Following the show, Janet Jackson expressed her gratitude towards Lil Kim on Instagram for stepping in for Ludacris, writing, “Kim, thanks so much for filling in while Luda was out getting his much deserved star on the walk of fame…Love u sis ♥️”.
