Killer Mike Walks Back Comments About Andre3000 Album
Renowned rapper Killer Mike has taken a step back from his previous claims about André 3000’s upcoming solo album.
In a recent interview with Atlanta radio station V-103, the Run The Jewels powerhouse addressed the comments he made during an earlier conversation with Sway Calloway, admitting that he had merely been toying with fans’ emotions.
“I was completely stoned and just playing around, teasing y’all,” Killer Mike confessed. “But hey, André 3000 is always making music. He never stops. I’ve had the privilege of listening to some cool stuff… If you’re craving André, I know where you can find him. There’s an album called ‘Michael’ out right now. It features Dre, Future, and myself.”
Naturally, Outkast fans were sent into a frenzy following Killer Mike’s initial revelation. In a circulating clip on Instagram, Calloway remarked, “What I’m hearing is Dre has an album coming,” prompting Killer Mike to respond, “Yeah, I think we’re flying out in a couple of weeks to go listen to it.”
Calloway expressed amazement, stating, “Wow, André 3000 has an album coming.” When someone suggested they might be joking, Calloway refuted, saying, “Nah, he played me nine tracks that he already had. That means Dre has an abundance of unreleased songs.”
However, it remains uncertain whether Killer Mike was merely backtracking, leaving room for the possibility that André 3000 is indeed on the brink of releasing new music. Outkast’s last album dates back to 2006 with “Idlewild,” following a string of hip-hop classics that include “Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik” (1994), “ATLiens” (1996), “Aquemini” (1998), and “Stankonia” (2000).
André 3000’s verse on Killer Mike’s single “Scientists & Engineers” from the album “Michael” has ignited further excitement, fueling the hopes of countless hip-hop fans longing for more from the enigmatic Atlanta-bred MC. In recent years, André 3000 has been spotted casually playing his flute in public, seemingly unfazed by the pressures of the industry. Fans will have to exercise patience and wait to see if he has been cooking up new solo material in the studio, a task that has proven challenging. In the meantime, indulge in the track “Scientists & Engineers,” featuring André 3000 and Future, below, as anticipation builds for what may lie ahead.
