“Hip Hop Alliance” Is Hip Hop’s First Union
Kurtis Blow, Chuck D and others have created the Hip Hop Alliance which will serve as a union for Hip Hop artists. Kurtis Blow sat with Allhiphop to discuss a partnership between the Hip Hop Alliance and SAG-AFTRA which will create the first union for Hip Hop. Kurtis Blow serves as the Vice President with Chuck D as the President of the organization. “What we want to do is, we want to join forces to promote fair wages and fair royalties, and also benefits, mental health and physical health benefits, retirement benefits. And this is all for the artists because the artsits nowadays are in a bad way,” Kurtis Blow told Chuck Creekmur. He also spoke on the exploitative deals artists are signing.
