Future to Receive Special Recognition as 2023’s ‘Trapper Of The Year’ at Trap Music Museum
On June 8, the Trap Music Museum will honor acclaimed artist Nayvadius “Future” Wilburn in a special ceremony, bestowing upon him the title of 2023’s Trapper Of The Year.
The Atlanta-based institution is set to host the event with its founder, Tip “T.I.” Harris, applauding Future, a fellow collaborator on the hit song, “Magic.”
Future will not only be the distinguished guest but will also receive a bespoke Trapper Of The Year ring, specially designed by Ice Box Jewelry. Alongside this, the museum will showcase a novel art exhibit, with a focus on the illustrious career of the 39-year-old Atlanta-born artist.
Future’s music career, highlighted by multiple awards, including two Grammys, speaks volumes about his talent. His February hit single, “Wait for U” featuring Drake and Tems, earned the Best Melodic Rap Performance Grammy Award. The song was a part of his 2022 album ‘I Never Liked You,’ which debuted at the pinnacle of the Billboard 200 chart, registering 222,000 units in its initial week. This achievement marked Future’s eighth number-one project.
In addition to the Grammys, Future, the founder of the Freebandz record label, has an American Music Award and a BET Award to his name. GQ magazine also bestowed upon him the title of “best rapper alive” in 2022.
The 2023 Trapper Of The Year nomination included fellow hip-hop artists Kodak Black, GloRilla, 21 Savage, and Latto. Fans had the opportunity to participate in the selection process, casting votes for their favorite artist.
Since its inauguration in October 2018, the Trap Music Museum has celebrated numerous rap artists, with exhibits like the one dedicated to the late Christopher “The Notorious B.I.G.” Wallace in October 2021.
The ceremony honoring Future’s achievement will witness several celebrity guests joining T.I. in extending their congratulations. DJ Major Key has been enlisted to create the musical ambiance for the much-anticipated event.
