Cardi B ‘Invasion Of Privacy’ Reaches 4x-Platinum Status
Cardi B’s groundbreaking debut album, “Invasion of Privacy,” has set a new benchmark as the longest-charting album by a female rapper in Billboard 200 history.
Five years after its release, the album continues to achieve accolades.
On the occasion of the album’s fifth anniversary, the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) awarded “Invasion of Privacy” a 4x-Platinum certification. Released on April 6, 2018, the Atlantic Records-supported album has become an enduring success.
Two singles from “Invasion of Privacy” also received updated RIAA certifications this week. “Be Careful” is now 4x-Platinum, while “Ring” featuring Kehlani has reached the 3x-Platinum milestone.
Cardi B made history as the first female artist to have every track on an album achieve Platinum status. The album’s hits, “Bodak Yellow” (11x-Platinum) and “I Like It” featuring Bad Bunny and J Balvin (11x-Platinum), have both earned Diamond certification.
Other notable achievements from the album include “Bartier Cardi” featuring 21 Savage (3x-Platinum), and 2x-Platinum Awards for “Thru Your Phone” and “I Do” featuring SZA. The remaining songs on the album’s tracklist have all been awarded Platinum plaques.
Not only did “Invasion of Privacy” break records in terms of certifications, but it also earned Cardi B the distinction of being the only solo female rapper to win the Grammy Award for Best Rap Album, which she received at the 61st Annual Grammy Awards in 2019.
Furthermore, “Invasion of Privacy” is the first album by a female rapper to feature two No. 1 singles on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and two RIAA-certified Diamond singles, with “Bodak Yellow” and “I Like It” both reaching the top of the Hot 100.
In the coming months, Cardi B has several live performances scheduled. The Bronx-born artist will headline the inaugural Rolling Loud festival in Thailand next week, and she has also been tapped to perform at Hot 97’s upcoming event.
