Ex-Business Partner Sues Fat Joe For 150K

Rapper-turned mogul, Fat Joe has successfully managed to maintain a 20 year rap career, while becoming a media personality and business owner in the process. Joe’s latest business venture has been wildly successful, but now he may have a problem. Fat Joe’s former business partner Scott Spina is now suing him for $150,000, and partial ownership of Joe’s sneaker store, UP NYC.
According to TMZ, Spina is suing Fat Joe because he feels cheated out of money owed from gaining funding for the store. Spina claims he invested $150,000 into the store, and secured $300,000 from investors for the store. Then Spina claims that after the store successfully opened, Joe kicked him out of the partnership. This would be ample reason to sue on Spina’s part, if it were not for the fact that he was caught stealing from the store’s customers.
In July, Scott Spina was sentenced to 35 months in prison for stealing customers credit card numbers, and making purchases without permission. He made $318,000 in purchases before being caught and convicted. Spina received his sentence, and now he wants Fat Joe to pay up.
It is likely that Fat Joe kicked Spina out of the store partnership once he found out he had been stealing from customers. Joe even addressed the matter breifly via Twitter. “Let’s be clear this guy stole from me stop acting like he’s a friend please,” Joe tweeted in response to a New York Post tweet about the incident. Check out the tweet below. Do you think Spina has a case?
