Usher R&B icon Usher Raymond is currently enjoying a career resurgence, with his captivating performances in Las Vegas at both Caesars Palace and Park MGM residencies. The 8-time Grammy winner gained further attention after his widely praised Tiny Desk Concert for NPR Music, particularly the “Confessions Part II” segment, which sparked the viral “Watch This” meme. Usher recently headlined the 2023 Dreamville Festival, fueling online speculation about the possibility of the music industry veteran leading a future Super Bowl Halftime Show. Access Hollywood’s Scott Evans interviewed Usher at his Flipper’s Roller Boogie Palace pop-up event in Los Angeles, asking the singer if he would be interested in performing at the Super Bowl’s prestigious midgame music showcase. Usher responded, “I’d be a fool to say no. If things line up the way that we would all hope, one day that moment would happen. I’ve had the opportunity to grace the stage before in support of ‘OMG’ with Will.i.am.” The Hard II Love album creator added, “But that was one moment. I think I have a catalog that obviously speaks for itself… It has always been kind of a bucket list [item]. How do I make it happen? I’m not certain about that.” In 2011, Will.i.am and the rest of the Black Eyed Peas headlined the Super Bowl XLV Halftime Show, sharing the stage with Usher, Guns N’ Roses lead guitarist Slash, and the Prairie View A&M University marching band. Usher has achieved nine No. 1 hits on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, including 2004’s “Yeah!” featuring Lil Jon and Ludacris from the RIAA Diamond-certified Confessions album, which spent twelve weeks at the top. Confessions also includes chart-topping hits “Burn,” “Confessions Part II,” and “My Boo” with Alicia Keys. Usher’s 1997 album My Way received 7x-Platinum certification, while 2001’s 8701 is certified 4x-Platinum.
