Wale Announces "Free Lunch" EP, Inspired By Food Delivery App
Article By: Ashia Skye
DMV native, Wale is as creative as they come. He has been consistently releasing new singles and EPs throughout 2018, with no sign of letting up. On September 11th, Wale announced that he will release his new EP, Free Lunch on September 14th. His website implies that the project is inspired by popular food delivery service, Postmates.
Initially, Wale had an exchange with Postmates on Twitter. He tweeted out “If I had a dollar for everytime @Postmates gave my shyt to somebody else .. then I could just buy postmates and prolly get my food 6x”. The food delivery app promptly replied to him. “Feel free to DM us your account email if you’d like us to look into an order for you!” Then, the rapper implied that he believed Postmates drivers were stealing his food.
This humorous exchange could be what led to the title of the new Free Lunch EP. When users visit the website for the project, it states “Brought to you by Postmates and their ‘drivers”. The site also gives users the ability to sign up to get the EP once it drops. Creative marketing at it’s finest!
