Mac Miller made Pittsburgh’s Blue Slide Park a nationally known name when he named his debut album after it. Since Mac loved the park enough to name his album after it, it was only right that Blue Slide Park was the place where the Mac Miller memorial took place. On September 11th, thousands gathered at the park to celbrate the life, music, and legacy of the fallen rapper.
The memorial was organized by Night Fall Records, a local Pittsburgh record label. “Mac deserves to be sent off with an evening of celebrating his life, discussing his struggles, and remembering his stories; most importantly for his iconic work that brought joy into the lives of everybody who listened,” said the label.
During the Mac Miller memorial, artists drew murals of the rapper. People also placed candles in his honor, and the DJ played his beloved music. Fans even created a petition for the park to be renamed Mac Miller Blue Slide Park. There is no doubt that his legacy will live on.
