Kanye West made a tweet over two years ago, that could be coming back to haunt him. It all dates back to 2016.When Kanye announced the release of his album, The Life Of Pablo,  he tweeted that the album would only be available on Jay-Z’s streaming service, Tidal. He also said that it could not be purchased anywhere else. This statement may just now be getting Kanye West in trouble legally in 2018. A disgruntled fan is now claiming Kanye lied in the tweet in order to trick fans into getting Tidal.

The exact tweet regarding Kanye’s album was straight-forward. “My album [The Life of Pablo] will never never, never be on Apple,” Yeezy wrote at the time. “And it will never be for sale….You can only get it on Tidal.” After the announcement was made, Tidal’s membership grew from 1,000,000 to 3,000,000 within the next few months. The album was then released on Tidal, but ultimately wound up on other streaming platforms as well, which contradicted Yeezy’s original tweet.

As a result of TLOP being accessible on all streaming platforms, a fan is now attempting to start a class action suit against Kanye. Justin Baker-Rhett stated that he and millions of others, only bought Tidal under the impression that it would be the only place they could access the album, due to Kanye West’s tweet.

Justin Baker-Rhett and his legal team have set the stipulations to join the suit, and intend to pursue it with full force. Stipulations include Anyone who subscribed to Tidal streaming service between February 15, 2016 and April 1, 2016. Canidate must have streamed any track from The Life of Pablo within the first 24 hours of subscription.” Do you think they have a case?
