In March of 2018, rapper Juelz Santana made headlines by negligently trying to pass through security at Newark Liberty International Airport with a .38 -caliber handgun in his bag. Once security discovered the handgun, the rapper fled the scene, hailed a cab, and went into hiding, before he eventually turned himself in.
Santana was charged with possesion of a firearm by a convicted felon, and carrying a weapon on an aircraft. Security also found nonprescription oxycodone pills in the bag that he left at the airport after fleeing. He has now pleaded guilty to the charges, and will return to court December 12th for sentencing. The maximum penalty for his charge is 20 years, though since he has entered a plea deal, it is possible that he will not receive the maximum sentence.
