New York rapper 2 Milly popularized the world famous “Milly Rock” dance in 2015 when he released the song of the same title. Now 2 Milly is pursuing legal action against the popular video game Fortnite, for using his dance without permission.
Pierce Bainbridge Beck Price & Hecht LLP. is representing the rapper, and they have laid out his claims against Fortnite makers, Epic Games. “I was never compensated by Epic Games for their use of the Milly Rock. They never even asked for my permission…help right this wrong.”
The legal team also claims Epic Games has a history of using artist’s likenesses without permission. “This isn’t the first time that Epic Games has brazenly misappropriated the likeness of African-American talent” said David L. Hecht. “Our client Lenwood ‘Skip’ Hamilton is pursuing similar claims against Epic for use of his likeness…Epic cannot take what does not belong to it.”
