With a career spanning over 20 years, and so many contributions to music, Missy Elliot certainly deserves honor and accolades. Privy to this fact, the Songwriter’s Hall of fame has finally nominated Missy for induction. The legendary musician took to Twitter to share her elation about the prestigious nom. “I am Humbly Grateful to be nominated with so many other AMAZING writers, Congratulations to all of them also,” she wrote.

Although several deserving writers have nominations to the hall, only six of them will be inducted. Missy joins the likes of Mariah Carey, Monica, Cat Stevens, John Prine, and more as some of the performing nominees. Throughout  her timeless career, she has written songs for the late Aaliyah, Beyoncé and Janet Jackson, and many more. Of course she has written countless hits for herself as well. Missy is the first female rapper to be nominated for the Songwriters Hall Of Fame.

The 50th annual Induction and Awards Gala takes place on June 13, 2019, in New York City. Check out Missy’s excited post about the nomination below.
