2pac Shakur's Estate Wins Ownership Of His Unreleased Music
Article By: Ashia Skye
Ever since the death of rap legend 2pac, the rapper’s family and estate have been battling for the rights to his music. This battle has now come to a close after a judge ruled in favor of Pac’s estate, granting them ownership of his unreleased music, and a six-figure settlement.
Back in 2013, 2pac’s mother, Afeni Shakur, sued eOne Records for failing to pay out royalties for her son’s music. Ms. Shakur claimed the company owed her seven figures. Then, after she passed away in 2016, legal representatives carried on the suit. We do not yet know the value of the unreleased music, but we can assume it’s quite substantial. There is no word on whether or not it will be released to the public.
