Schoolboy Q Delays Album After Mac Miller Passing

After rapper Mac Miller tragically passed away, many artists publicly displayed their grief, while simeltaneously celebrating his life. TDE rapper Schoolboy Q, who was a close friend of Mac Miller, was so affected by his death, that he decided to push back his album release date.
Initially, Q announced the change of plans regarding his album at one of his shows. He paused the show and took a moment to address the crowd. “With my nigga gone right now, I just don’t feel right putting out an album,” he said. “As y’all can tell, I’m not my real self right now. I shouldn’t even be here, right now. But like I said, my nigga Mac would not want me in the house sad. He would clown me for some weird shit. So, like I said, I’m here today ’cause it’s no way he would allow me to sit in the house and be a little bitch. I’m not gon’ be a little bitch. I’m out here.” Said Schoolboy Q as he spoke on their relationship.
In addition to being close friends, Q and Mac also collaborated on a number of songs. “Gees”, “Friends”, and “Melt” were among the tracks they hopped on together. This shows that the rappers had a personal and working relationship. It its easy to see why the loss hits so hard for Schoolboy Q. Despite the emotional strain, he promised fans that he would still drop the album.
