London UK artist, Stefflon Don has been steadily building a buzz since gracing the 2018 XXL Magazine Freshman Cover, and releasing her hit single “Hurtin’ Me” featuring French Montana. She has now made another major splash with her new mixtape cover, which pays homage to the legendary queen bee, Lil Kim.
After a fan on Twitter leaked the cover for Stefflon’s new mixtape, people were able to see how the Secure is inspired by and pays homage to Lil Kim’s The Notorious K.I.M. album cover. There was even a side by side comparison of the two covers floating around. Stefflon Don has also previously spoken on Lil Kim’s influence over her career, so the whole concept makes sense.
“I was definitely influenced by a lot of female rappers like Lil Kim and Foxy Brown…They were so confident, and especially Lil Kim and Foxy and I feel like they stood out amongst all the men, to me.” She said in her Freshman interview with XXL Magazine.
Stefflon took to Instagram to address the cover, and though she was upset about the leak, she does agree that there are worse things happening in the world. Check out the two covers indivdually, a side-by-side comparison, plus a video of Stefflon addressing the cover.
