During a 24-hour-long music festival, Kat Dahlia took the stage at the O Music Awards’ first ever “Live Music Day” on Thursday (June 20). Watch.
Kat, who is music label honcho Sylvia Rhone’s artist, did a stripped down version of “Gangsta,” an autobiographical tale about growing up in Miami. “You say you a gangsta? That don’t impress me none,” she sings.
“I was definitely going through a lot at the time and I’ll tell you, people always have something going on and everybody finds their own therapy,” she previously told MTV News about the track. “And that was definitely something where I sat down and really just vented about. I’m not embarrassed about it at all. I’m an open person generally. I definitely wear my heart on my sleeve and I don’t have a problem doing that. Honesty is always the best way to go.”
The streaming event kicked off Wednesday night at 7 p.m. at OMusicAwards.com and more than 50 bands will participate in festivities before it’s wrapped.
