When Bryan “Birdman” Williams and Ronald “Slim” Williams established Cash Money Records in 1991, they laid the foundation for one of the most triumphant Hip Hop labels in history. Thirty-two years later, Cash Money Records continues to hold a significant position in Hip Hop culture. Birdman is now preparing to delve into the legacy of CMR and his own contributions to the music industry through an upcoming documentary. A trailer for the documentary, titled “Ma$termind,” was recently unveiled on Birdman’s Instagram page. The teaser showcases the Cash Money CEO, also known as Baby and Stunna, providing voiceover commentary. With confidence, Birdman declares, “I might be ghetto, but I’m smart.” He further asserts, “Ain’t no n#### had a longer run than me… No n#### in Hip Hop will ever have a longer run than me.” Alongside co-founding Cash Money Records, Birdman leads the Rich Gang collective. He has also released several solo studio albums and collaborated on joint projects with acclaimed artists such as Lil Wayne, Juvenile, and YoungBoy Never Broke Again. The duo known as Big Tymers, comprising Birdman and New Orleans-bred producer/rapper Mannie Fresh, delivered five albums between 1997 and 2003. Their single “Still Fly” achieved significant success, reaching the Top 20 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 2002. Under Birdman and Slim’s guidance, Cash Money Records introduced the world to a multitude of rap talents, including Juvenile, Lil Wayne, Hot Boy$, Drake, Nicki Minaj, Tyga, Jacquees, and Blueface. Noteworthy artists like Busta Rhymes, DJ Khaled, Mystikal, Bow Wow, and even Limp Bizkit have also been associated with the CMR roster over the years. With the upcoming documentary, Birdman aims to shed light on Cash Money Records’ historic journey, showcasing its lasting impact on the music industry and solidifying his own enduring legacy within Hip Hop.
