Metro Boomin St. Louis-born music producer Leland “Metro Boomin” Wayne, currently enjoying a spot in the Billboard 200 chart’s Top 10 with his album, is set to helm another significant project this year. The forthcoming Metro Boomin-curated project, ‘Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse Soundtrack,’ draws inspiration from and coincides with the release of the film of the same name. Metro Boomin will perform dual roles as executive producer and record producer for the album. The computer-animated superhero film ‘Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse,’ slated to release on June 2, serves as the sequel to the 2018 Academy Award-winning film ‘Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.’ The film centers on the life of New York City teenager Miles Morales. The soundtrack will be released simultaneously with the film. Spring Aspers, President of Music at Sony Pictures, commended the selection of Metro Boomin for the project, stating, “The next chapter in Miles’ story necessitated a modern and culturally relevant music partner. Metro Boomin’s distinct cultural voice made him the ideal choice to shape the musical landscape for this exciting sequel.” Metro Boomin’s Collaboration with Republic Records for the Soundtrack Dana Sano, EVP of Film & TV for Republic Records, praised Metro Boomin for his vision and commitment. She said, “Metro Boomin is an innovator who consistently sets new standards. For the ‘Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse’ soundtrack, Metro Boomin has displayed remarkable passion and integrity. We at Republic are both delighted and honored to be collaborating again with the filmmakers and our valued partners at Sony Pictures Motion Picture Group.” In 2018, Republic Records released the soundtrack for ‘Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.’ This album included the Hot 100 chart-topper and 17x-Platinum hit “Sunflower” by Post Malone and Swae Lee. Additionally, Metro Boomin’s ‘Heroes & Villains’ was released by Republic on December 2, 2022. The album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 album chart with 185,000 units in its first week and currently holds the No. 10 spot. ‘Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse’ stars Shameik Moore, who lends his voice to the character of Miles Morales. The film also features the talents of Hailee Steinfeld, Jake Johnson, Issa Rae, Daniel Kaluuya, Karan Soni, Jason Schwartzman, and Brian Tyree Henry.
