Beyonce Kelly Rowland Beyoncé and Kelly Rowland, renowned members of the iconic group Destiny’s Child, are taking proactive steps to address homelessness in their hometown of Houston. According to reports from the Houston Chronicle, the talented duo is teaming up with Harris County to launch a groundbreaking housing complex in the midtown area of the city. The ambitious project, named Knowles-Rowland House, aims to construct 31 permanent supported housing units for individuals experiencing homelessness, using $7.2 million in funding provided through the American Rescue Plan. Set to commence construction in October, Knowles-Rowland House will not only provide safe and stable housing but will also offer comprehensive support services to its residents. These services encompass mental health, physical and behavioral healthcare, as well as specialized assistance. The initiative has garnered substantial financial support from various organizations, including Rice University, with the overall estimated cost reaching approximately $8.4 million. The impact of this endeavor is expected to be magnified when Beyoncé returns to Houston for her highly anticipated Renaissance Tour later this year. Scheduled to perform at NRG Stadium on September 23 and 24, Beyoncé’s visit is anticipated to mark an even greater milestone for the homelessness alleviation project. During a recent press conference on June 27, Judge Lina Hidalgo commended the ongoing efforts to reduce homelessness in the region by 20% despite the challenges posed by the pandemic. She also acknowledged the tremendous support and involvement of Beyoncé and Kelly Rowland, emphasizing that the Houston natives have long been devoted to their community. Local Pastor Rudy Rasmus, who serves as the executive director of Bread of Life where the housing units will be situated, expressed his gratitude for the Knowles-Rowland Project. He revealed that the inspiration for this initiative stemmed from the philanthropic actions of the Destiny’s Child trio, who had previously utilized the proceeds from their hit single “No, No, No” to establish a youth center within the city. By spearheading the Knowles-Rowland House, Beyoncé and Kelly Rowland are not only leveraging their star power but also demonstrating their deep commitment to improving the lives of Houston’s most vulnerable population. Their visionary efforts offer hope, stability, and a promising future for those experiencing homelessness in their beloved hometown.
