Gervonta Davis JAY-Z has long been known for his motivational words, but his recent speech before Gervonta Davis’ match against Ryan Garcia was particularly stirring. Davis grabbed headlines on Saturday (April 22) after defeating Garcia with a seventh-round knockout at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The three-division champion, nicknamed Tank, knocked Garcia down in the second round and then sealed the victory in the seventh with a powerful uppercut to the ribs. The world of Hip Hop was well represented at the event, with Chief Keef accompanying Davis to the ring and performing his hit song “Love Sosa” for the excited audience. However, it was JAY-Z’s motivational speech, played before Davis’ entrance and accompanied by clips from the boxer’s career, that truly captivated the crowd. “Everything in life is for your greatest good,” JAY-Z said. “No matter how difficult it seemed at the time, everything is for your greatest good. Just teaching you discipline so you can receive your blessing.” The rap legend went on to encourage self-belief, regardless of one’s background. “It don’t matter if you’re from Brooklyn or from Baltimore, all that matters is that you believe in yourself when no one else will,” he added. “Any time you want something in life, you gotta set your intention. When you set your intentions, you believe that in your soul, 100 percent. It’s gonna happen for you, I promise.”
