Usher is jumping on the hologram band-wagon and he’s bringing his fans along for the ride. The R&B singer is reaching out to his fans to perform with him in hologram form during his performance of “Scream,” at London’s Hammersmith Apollo
, next month.
In order to bring his vision to life, Usher will use both hologram technology and social media to turn the concert into an interactive fan experience, which will be live-streamed on his VEVO page. “Literally, people will be able to create their own avatar and have it dance on the screen with Usher,” said director Hamish Hamilton, who will be in charge of producing the visual masterpiece. Hamilton— whose resume includes directing this year’s Super Bowl half-time show, and concerts for U2—promised that Usher’s digital dance crew will take fan participation to new heights. “I bring something different. I bring a cutting-edge technological experience and an enthusiasm and a passion to take things to the next level. And also a track record that says, this guy’s done a bit of this in the past.”
The show will also feature live-tweets, and a real-time camera in the directors booth, and is set to kick-off June 11 at 4 p.m. EST.
