Jeezy Hip-hop artist Jeezy was recently honored in his hometown as he received the prestigious Spirit of the League Champion award for his outstanding commitment to giving back to his local community. The accolade was presented to him during the annual Urban League of Greater Atlanta (ULGA) luncheon held on Tuesday (Jun. 27), alongside other esteemed local heroes. Expressing his gratitude, Jeezy stated to Atlanta News First, a local outlet, that he was “honored” to receive the award and commended the ULGA for their unwavering dedication and diligence in assisting and uplifting underserved communities. He further praised the league for setting an exemplary standard of excellence that should inspire everyone to strive for similar achievements. Jeezy also conveyed his enthusiasm for bridging the gap and playing his part in providing support to those in need. His commitment to making a positive impact in his community was evident during the ceremony and luncheon, where he shared valuable advice with the youth, encouraging them to avoid trouble and pursue success. Drawing inspiration from influential figures like Tupac, Magic Johnson, Shaq, and TD Jakes, Jeezy highlighted their ability to master their craft while flourishing in other fields, presenting them as role models for the younger generation. “His advice was to stay focused and stick to your dreams and avoid letting negativity pull you off your track,” stated Johnson, one of the attendees who benefitted from Jeezy’s motivational message. Reflecting on his own past, Jeezy spoke about his involvement in street gangs during his youth. He acknowledged being a product of his environment but credited his grandmother’s prayers for guiding him towards a new path. Johnson added, “She took him to church and poured love and guidance into him. She reinforced in him that he was a leader.” In addition to his community work, Jeezy recently announced the upcoming release of his book titled “Adversity for Sale: Ya Gotta Believe.” The book is set to launch on August 8, coinciding with the 50th anniversary of Hip-Hop in August.
