"NO I.D." Grammy Award-winning Hip-Hop producer No I.D. has been appointed as Def Jam’s new Vice President, joining a long roster of executives. The legendary record label was founded by music mogul Russell Simmons and is home to artists such as Ace Hood, Big Sean, Kanye West, Nas, Rick Ross and Rihanna. Confirming the news to Billboard.com, No I.D. said: “I’m (now) executive VP of Def Jam. I’m going to keep on doing what I’m doing and take it to another level. Def Jam is a cultural staple. It’s not just a label, it’s part of the culture that I came up in and that I’ve been involved with for 20 years. It’s very important that the next generation of executives grab it by the horns and keep it on track as it grows.” The producer’s new role is well deserved, as he has worked with the likes of Common, Kanye West, Jay-Z, Big Sean and J.Cole.
